You’ve heard much recently about the increasing use of QR codes (Quick Response) by local businesses. But did you know that they can be a great strategic tool for online businesses, as well?
Wikipedia: A QR code is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) that is readable by dedicated QR barcode readers, telephone cameras, and to a less common extent, computers with webcams. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded may be text, URL, or other data.
The ‘Local’ Argument
It’s pretty east ro see how they would be useful for a business with a store front. A customer is walking down the street, reads the QR code with his/her mobile phone, and is taken to the store’s website to see what they’re about. And, of course there’s much more to it than that.
