While there is still a lot to say for traditional (and nontraditional) websites, blogging seems to be where it’s at today. And there are lots of reasons why this is so. Here are some things you’ll love about blogs and blogging.
A favorite today is to use WordPress and host it on your own webhost. This allows you to reap the benefits of blogging without running the risks of building your business on a site you don’t own. Here are 6 reasons to get your blog up now.
1. Ease of Use
I’ve had websites and I’ve had blogs. And for now, I’m loving my blogs. Blogs are easy to set up, and very easy to manage. Blog posts don’t have to be long, and they can include audio, video, posts from other blogs.
You name it and you can probably do it with a blog!
2. Search Engines Love Blogs
A lot of your time in setting up websites can be spent optimizing the site in general and every page so that the various search engines would find it and give it some page rank love.
Blogs are easier to get ranked these days, and if you use the right kind of plug-ins and widgets on your blog, seach engine optimization is pretty easy. There are even a number of WordPress plugins that not only do SEO for you, they do it automatically.
3. Lets You Be You
For some strange reason, it seems easier to share your personality on a blog. Frequent posting captures your mood and your voice in a variety of situations, and on lots of topics. Use pictures and images in your posts to express yourself.
4. Ease of Adding Images, Audio and Video
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then adding video to your site must be worth ten thousand words, at least! And people still love audio as well. It’s so easy to add video, audio and pictures to your blog posts and pages. Just a few clicks, and you are done.
5. Want a More Traditional Website Look? You Can Do It with WordPress!
Perhaps your online goal is really more suited to having a traditional website type platform than a blog. The good news is that you don’t have to hire a webmaster or get an HTML editor. You can simply use the pages attribute in WordPress to create individual website-like pages.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of WordPress themes available on the internet. Many are free, and some cost a bit of money. If you choose a theme that does not have sidebars, your site will look more like traditional webpages than the standard blog.

When I started online, WordPress was just coming into it’s own. At the time I was in a coaching program and they were building me a static site. I became aware of the power of WordPress and put a stop to the static site. I insisted on a WordPress site… which they weren’t too happy about. I found a webmaster in Canada who was willing to put one up for me. (In another niche)
I’ve always been glad I stuck to my guns. It has worked out very well for me. WordPress is the best… it does it all… why would one even consider anything else.
Kathryn, you’re right. Why would anyone consider using anything else? WP blogs are so versatile, including for optin pages, sales pages, easy promotion to your current readers, membership sites, etc.

You are on target with this information. I agree that a Wordpress blog is my favorite way to get information out and also build a list. Thanks for keeping us on course.
